Project Summary

The federal government and CISA aim to identify, define, develop, and demonstrate technologies and techniques to provide a backup network timing source for mission-critical public safety P25 LMR communications networks, especially when GPS timing becomes unavailable or corrupted. CACN (at the time Texas A&M ITEC) will engage the public safety community and industry representatives to gather and document insights for developing requirements. This requirements development group will include engineers from the Harris County radio team (managers of a 30-county Motorola Astro Core in Houston), Motorola’s engineering team, and representatives from APNT firms identified in the landscape study. CACN (at the time Texas A&M ITEC )will conduct meetings with individuals and convene the group to define the problem and explore potential solutions for the prototype phase. The team will periodically seek input, insights, and recommendations from the development group throughout the project.
