Project Summary
The TRUST project, backed by a $19.2 million grant, is rolling out Vehicle to Everything (V2X) technology, also known as connected vehicle technology, across a population center of over 7 million people in the Greater Houston area, the City of College Station, and the corridors linking these two metropolitan regions.
The project features 15 use cases aimed at improving safety and mobility, positioning Texas as a leader in advancing the next generation of technologies that enhance transportation safety and contribute to the goal of zero fatalities.
The Transforming Roads Unleashing Smart Technologies (TRUST) project is a federally funded initiative led by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), City of Houston, City of College Station, Missouri City, Fort Bend County, and an international consortium of private sector companies.
The United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) selected Texas as one of three projects to receive funding through the $60 million V2X Accelerator Program, alongside deployments in Utah and Arizona. The V2X Accelerator Program aims to accelerate the adoption and deployment of V2X technology nationwide. This technology can support the Safe System Approach outlined in the USDOT’s National Roadway Safety Strategy, which aims to address the urgent issue of roadway fatalities.
